New Edition of FAKRO International Design Competition
FAKRO company, world roof window manufacturer and A10 new European Architecture Magazine invite architects from all over the world to take part in
the International Design Competition
This year the subject of the new edition is
„Atelier of the Future – New Space for New Visions”
“Atelier” - is a room or even the whole complex of rooms which goal is to create a work space for various artists. Atelier can apply both to large, glazed galleries as well as intimate spaces for creative work located away from the hustle and bustle of big cities.
To fulfill its function, the atelier sometimes needs the maximum amount of light, while the other time it must be entirely obscured, hidden from the world.
“Atelier of the Future” - is to be a place where creative spirit meets with a number of innovative solutions. The place that would provide conditions for realizing visions of the artists and architects.
The competition task is to design a creative and artistic VISION OF AN ATELIER.
The space should be functional, using the latest technologies as well as it should create the appropriate mood to stimulate creative visions.
Project shall utilise at least 3 FAKRO innovative products.
The winner will receive a prize:
1st prize - 5000 €
2nd prize - 3000 €
3rd prize - 2000 €

01st March – 07th July 2014
Works will be evaluated by the international jury well- known and appreciated in architects' world!
REQUIREMENTS*
visualisations and drawings showing “atelier of the future”, put together on the board / boards 1 board at least, max. 4 boards);
brief description of the project, which is an integral part of the board / boards,
at least one cross-section of the whole building in which the atelier is located.
cross-section is to show how the room interacts with other parts of the building and how the atelier looks like in relation to the scale of the entire body of the building. The cross-section must include visible part of the atelier, taking into account the amount of natural light entering the interior and the way it spreads out in the room.

description should include information on applied FAKRO products and explanation how chosen products will help to use the atelier.
number of the boards: 1 board at least, max. 4 boards;
the format of the projects is min. A3, resolution of each board is 300 dpi, size of the entire file is from 50 to 150 MB,
boards in English,
board should be anonymous, signed with the code created by the participant of the competition, e.g. “1A2B3C4D” (code should contain between 6 and 9 characters)
visualisation should be sent through the file hosting server HERE. After you sent the visualisation on the server the link which will be generated should be copied and sent to idc@fakro.pl
completed application form and visualization should be sent to idc@fakro.pl
CAD drawings of FAKRO roof windows are available on Archispace. Internet Explorer 7 (or higher) or Mozilla Firefox 2 (or higher) is required.
